About Tax Calculators in Pakistan

Pakistan's tax system touches almost everything โ€” your salary slip, your phone, your imports, even your mobile recharge โ€” but the rules sit scattered across FBR notifications that nobody reads for fun. These six calculators translate the official structures into rupees. The income tax calculator applies the Federal Board of Revenue's salaried slabs for FY 2026-27 (Finance Act 2026): nothing up to Rs 600,000 a year, then 1%, 11%, 20%, 25%, 29%, 32%, and 35% bands above that โ€” and the Act abolished the 9% surcharge that previously applied to salaried incomes over Rs 1 crore. The PTA device tax calculator prices the tax on imported phones under the FY2026-27 banded regime โ€” customs value bands, regulatory duty, handset levy, sales tax at 18% up to $500 and 25% above it, and income tax that doubles for non-filers โ€” for both Passport and CNIC registrations. Importers get the customs duty and WEBOC duty calculators, businesses get the sales tax (VAT) calculator at the standard 18% rate, and everyone with a Jazz SIM gets the load tax breakdown: why a Rs 100 recharge credits only about Rs 85 after the 15% withholding tax and deductions.

Two habits save Pakistanis real money here. First, stay on the Active Taxpayer List (ATL): non-filers pay double withholding on most transactions, from PTA registration to banking. Second, check the fiscal year โ€” slabs and duties change every budget, and each calculator here states the year its numbers belong to.

FAQ

Which fiscal year's rates do these calculators use?
Income tax uses the FBR salaried slabs for FY 2026-27 (Finance Act 2026, effective 1 July 2026); PTA device tax uses the FY2026-27 structure effective 1 July 2026. Each calculator page names its year.

What is the tax-free income limit for salaried people?
Rs 600,000 per year under the FY 2026-27 slabs. Above that, tax applies band by band โ€” only the income inside each slab is taxed at that slab's rate, not your whole salary.

Why is PTA tax cheaper on Passport than CNIC?
Passport registrations (for travellers bringing a phone from abroad) fall in a concessionary stream; CNIC registrations pay the fuller schedule, and non-filers pay double the income-tax component. The calculator shows both side by side.

Is sales tax the same as VAT in Pakistan?
In practice yes โ€” Pakistan levies a value-added-style sales tax at a standard 18% under the Sales Tax Act 1990, administered by the FBR.

Does the Jazz load calculator apply to other networks?
The 15% advance income tax applies to all prepaid recharges in Pakistan; deductions shown are for Jazz, but the tax logic is the same across Telenor, Zong, and Ufone.
