About Electricity Bill Calculators

The electricity bill is the monthly surprise nobody in Pakistan enjoys β€” units you don't remember using, a total you can't reproduce, and a due date that arrives too fast. These three calculators estimate your bill from the meter reading for the three largest distribution companies (DISCOs): LESCO for Lahore and central Punjab, MEPCO for Multan and south Punjab, and GEPCO for Gujranwala and the northern industrial belt. Each runs the residential tariff logic NEPRA (National Electric Power Regulatory Authority) notifies β€” your consumed units priced through the slab-based energy charge β€” so 250 units comes out at about Rs 8,275 in energy charges on the current structure, before the extras.

Know what the estimate includes and what it doesn't. The calculators focus on the energy charge, the biggest and most predictable part of the bill. Your printed bill additionally carries fuel price adjustment (FPA), quarterly tariff adjustments, GST, TV/radio fees, and fixed charges, which is why the final payable is always somewhat higher. They also can't know your sanctioned load category or any subsidy your connection qualifies for. What they can do β€” and do well β€” is tell you within a few hundred rupees what this month's usage will cost, flag when a bill looks wrong for the units shown, and show what dropping below a slab boundary (say, from 301 to 299 units) saves you. In a load-shedding summer, that knowledge is bargaining power and budgeting peace in one.

FAQ

Why is my actual bill higher than the calculator's estimate?
The calculator prices your units' energy charges. The printed bill adds fuel price adjustment, quarterly adjustments, GST, and fixed fees on top β€” those extras commonly add 15–30%.

Which DISCO serves my area?
LESCO: Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Okara, Nankana Sahib. MEPCO: Multan and most of south Punjab including Bahawalpur, DG Khan, and Vehari. GEPCO: Gujranwala, Sialkot, Gujrat, Narowal, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin. Your bill's top corner names your company.

How do slabs work on a residential bill?
Units are priced in blocks β€” the first block cheapest, each higher block costlier. Crossing into a higher block raises the price of units in that block; keeping monthly use under a boundary is the simplest way to cut a bill.

Can I check a bill for someone in another city?
Yes β€” pick that city's DISCO calculator and enter their units. Tariffs are nationally notified by NEPRA, so the structure is the same; the extras vary slightly by company.

Does the calculator use my meter reading or units?
Units consumed (the difference between this month's and last month's reading). If you only have readings, subtract last month's from this month's and enter the result.
