Defence Saving Certificate Profit Calculator
Estimate maturity value and total profit on your DSC investment.
DSC profit compounds annually and is paid on maturity. The profit rate is revised periodically by the Central Directorate of National Savings (CDNS) — please confirm the current rate before investing. This is an indicative estimate only.
Defence Savings Certificates (DSC) are National Savings’ longest-running scheme — government-backed 10-year certificates that pay your profit at maturity, compounded. For decades they’ve been the default “safe investment” for Pakistanis planning education, dowries, and retirement. Our free DSC calculator shows the maturity value of any investment at the current profit rate so you can compare it with SCRA, Behbood, and bank deposits before walking into a National Savings centre.
How DSC Works
- Issued by: National Savings (Central Directorate of National Savings, Ministry of Finance) — sovereign-backed
- Tenure: 10 years, with graduated table values each year
- Current profit rate: 11.80% per annum (Oct 2026) — revised via government notifications
- Profit is paid at maturity (or on encashment at the year’s table value) — not monthly
- Denominations: Rs 500 to Rs 1,000,000 (higher investments via multiple certificates)
- Tax: profit is taxable; advance tax applies on profit above thresholds and filers pay less than non-filers
Profit compounds per the official table — certificates bought today mature at the prevailing table values, which is why the calculator’s maturity projection is the number that matters.
How to Use
- Enter your investment amount and start year (any year within the table).
- Click Calculate — the projected maturity value and total profit appear.
- Compare with monthly-income schemes if you need cash flow instead of growth.
Example
Rs 100,000 invested in DSC at 11.80% compounds to roughly Rs 304,000 at the 10-year maturity under the current table values — over Rs 200,000 in profit, tax-adjusted per your filer status.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are Defence Savings Certificates safe?
They’re sovereign-backed by the Government of Pakistan — the safest rupee investment class. The risk isn’t default; it’s inflation outpacing the rate.
Can I withdraw before 10 years?
Yes — encashment at the current year’s table value (minimum after year 1). Earlier years earn proportionally less (the table is back-loaded).
Is DSC profit taxable?
Yes — withholding tax applies on profit; rates differ for filers vs non-filers and change by finance act. The calculator shows gross projection.
DSC or Behbood/Savings Account?
Behbood (for senior citizens/widows) and regular Savings Accounts pay monthly profit — DSC defers to maturity but historically at competitive cumulative value. Choose monthly income vs 10-year growth.
